Healing Starts Here

You don't have to have it all figured out. That's what I'm here for.

Hi!

I’m Dr. Alicia Hawley-Bernardez, PhD, LMSW, a therapist licensed in Texas (under the supervision of Lindsey Stanley, LCSW-S).

If you landed here, something brought you. Maybe you've been feeling anxious, exhausted, or just not like yourself anymore. Maybe you're in a relationship that's confusing in ways that are hard to explain to people who haven't been there. Maybe you've been through something that left a mark, and you're ready to finally deal with it.

Whatever brought you here, I want you to know: you're in the right place.

I'm a licensed therapist in Texas specializing in healing after emotional and psychological abuse, trauma recovery, and women's mental health. I work with women who are trying to make sense of painful relationship experiences, whether they're still in them, just getting out, or years removed and still feeling the effects.

My approach is warm, real, and grounded in evidence-based care. I use EMDR therapy, a research-backed method that gets to the root of trauma, not just the surface symptoms. And I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a clinical transaction.

You don't have to have the right words yet. You just have to be willing to start.

Current Availability

A Note on Current Availability

My individual therapy caseload is currently full, and I'm not taking new one-on-one clients right now. I know that's hard to hear when you're ready to start.

Here's what you can do today: join my waitlist, and I'll reach out as soon as a spot opens. If you need support sooner, I'll always encourage you to connect with another therapist who has availability now, because your healing matters more than my schedule.

If you're interested in the Fall 2026 narcissistic abuse support group, I'd love to add you to the interest list. Group therapy can be a powerful complement to individual work, and spots will fill up.

ABOUT

How Can I Support You?

Two pairs of hands clasp gently across a table, conveying comfort and support. The tone is warm and compassionate, suggesting empathy and connection.

You Might Be Here Because...

You're in a relationship that leaves you feeling confused, small, or like you're constantly walking on eggshells, and you're not sure if what you're experiencing is "bad enough" to call abuse.

You got out of a toxic or controlling relationship and you're trying to rebuild, but you still feel stuck, anxious, or like you don't trust yourself anymore.

You grew up in a home where emotional safety wasn't a given, and those old wounds are showing up in your adult relationships, your parenting, or just the way you see yourself.

You've survived domestic violence and you're ready to heal, not just survive.

You're carrying something heavy and you're tired of carrying it alone.

If any of that sounds familiar, this is for you.

Everyone’s journey is unique, and I’m here to meet you wherever you are. Feel free to visit my About Me section to learn more about my approach or explore the Services page for details on the support I offer.

Have questions about getting started? Check out the FAQ page, where you’ll find answers to common questions about therapy and how I work.

If you have any questions or are ready to take the next step, I’d love to hear from you!
